Restylane® and Perlane® are hyaluronic acid gels which are injected into facial skin to virtually eliminate lines, wrinkles, creases, and folds. Additionally, Restylane® is used for facial contouring and to restore lip architecture and/or enhance lip plumpness. Perlane® can be used for facial contouring, augmentation, and to restore facial volume. These cosmetic fillers create a smoother, healthier, and younger look.

How do Restylane® and Perlane® work?

Hyaluronic acid is found throughout our bodies. It is a polysaccharide which binds water and provides volume and a ‘cushioning’ effect. Restylane® and Perlane® gels are cultured hyaluronic acids which are stabilized to increase their durability. When Dr. Mayo injects the products into the dermal layer of the skin they bind water, restore volume, erase wrinkles, and hydrate our skin.

When are Restylane® and Perlane® used?

With Restylane® we can correct nasolabial folds (nose to lip), glabellar creases (between the eyes), marionette lines (corner of mouth to chin), and much more. Restylane® is also a great product for redefining the boarders of the lips, plumping the lips, or perking up the corners of the mouth.

Perlane® particles are slightly larger so it is injected slightly deeper in the skin. It is a great product for dealing with moderate to severe wrinkles, creases, and folds. Perlane® can also be used to correct the inevitable volume losses that occur in the face with aging and to augment the cheeks, the chin, lips, or for general facial contouring. Neither Restylane® nor Perlane® contain animal proteins so allergy testing is unnecessary prior to the injections.

What are the results with Restylane® and Perlane®?
